Family storybooks from photos

Our Family Legend turns a photo of each person into a storybook character who looks the same on every page. You choose up to 3 characters for each book, share your idea, and read the cover and first 3 illustrated pages free before you decide. The finished book is an illustrated adventure, not a photo album.
What to know first
- Up to 3 characters per book. You can save up to 8 family characters and choose the ones each story is about. One of them is the main character, and the story centres on them.
- Photos of people aren't kept. We use each photo once, to draw the portrait, and then delete it. Only the drawn portrait is saved, and it's private to your account.
- A likeness, not a copy. Characters are drawn in the art style you choose, so expect a warm, recognisable likeness rather than a photograph.
- No photo? That's fine. You can describe someone in words instead, which is handy for a grandparent far away or a family member you'd rather not photograph.
Getting the best portrait
- Face the camera. A clear, front-facing photo in good daylight gives the most faithful result.
- One person per photo. Crop to the person you're adding. Group photos can blend features together.
- For pets, show the coat and face. Colour, markings and face shape matter most. Pet photos are kept for 30 days to help draw them, then deleted.
- Check the notes. After the portrait is drawn you can correct the look notes, like hair colour or glasses, and choose the outfit they'll wear in every book.
Ideas for your cast
- A parent and two children. A trip, a festival or a family recipe, with the youngest as the hero.
- Siblings on a quest. Two brothers or sisters, plus the family pet as their sidekick.
- Across the generations. A grandparent and a grandchild discovering the place the family comes from.
